This is the first of 12 sessions which will cover all aspects of employability skills, as well as serve as a step-by-step guide for schools and students that are signed up to the LikeToBe website. This first session is an introduction to what the different employability skills are and contains the audit sheet that is needed for the rest of the course. An hour long employability skills / careers lesson which was focuses on the idea of having a ‘personal brand’ online. This is something which can be tainted by your social media mishaps or unflattering / incriminating images shared by others. The lesson emphasises the fact that it is commonplace for employers to Google potential employees, so we all need to think about our digital footprints and what they say about us. This pack includes a detailed PowerPoint, information pack, differentiated activities, clips tasks with questions and a literacy / debate focus task. For the Gatsby Benchmark Careers Guidelines. 1-2 hour fully resourced careers lesson. Firstly, students will investigate what problem solving skills are, and try to solve a series of problems. They will then take stock of the skills they already have by examining the ways they have solved problems through their time at school and how these could be useful to a future potential employer if framed in an appropriate context. The lesson sees students complete a skills audit, team group activities, individual tasks, clip tasks and and is perfect for a PSHE / Citizenship careers unit. This resource pack includes a one hour long PowerPoint with accompanying worksheets, well differentiated activities, literacy focus tasks, clip tasks with three-way differentiated questions and information sheets. The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated and fun activities. It is useful for PSHE, Citizenship or Tutor Time. As with all our lessons, you don’t need any prior knowledge as all the information is included - you can just pick up and teach it. An assembly all about whether or not we live in a truly equal country. The assembly reflects on women’s and LGBT+ rights, racism, black lives matter, and finally focuses on income inequality - and how and why this is rising. The message of the assembly is that although the UK has improved so much in the last fifty years, we cannot take it for granted that we live in a country of equal opportunities, which is why we need to develop our skills of resilience, perseverance and determination to succeed more than ever. It lasts around 20 mins (inc clips). The assembly includes animations, statistics, dialogue between characters and a little humour. It is very easy to just pick up ad deliver after a quick glance at the slides. The slides in the previews are just a sample and not the whole assembly. Ideal as part of a unit for the Gatsby Benchmark Careers Guidelines. In this lesson students will explore a variety of concepts to help them navigate an ever-changing labour market, focusing on different types of employment. The lesson covers: self-employment, full-time and part-time work, zero-hours contracts, freelancing, internships, apprenticeships and many other forms of work. It also examines how the labour market is continuing to evolve, how we have seen a rise in the gig economy, new technologies, flexible working patterns, an increase in people moving for jobs (both nationally and abroad) and many other concepts specified in the PSHE Association’s recommended requirements for Careers Education at KS4. There’s a lot to fit in! The lesson includes a detailed, editable PowerPoint, accompanying worksheets, information pack, group tasks and much more. Best suited to KS4 (or KS5).
